An Official Statement From The Board of Trustees:

With the approval of The Senior Pastor

We, The elected Trustee Board of Friendship AME Church, take seriously the responsibility entrusted to us in preserving and protecting the heritage of 1877. Our current historic facility, erected in 1898, continues to stand and be a beacon of light and inspiration in the everchanging Old Village Community. In spite of gentrification and all of its ills that have significantly changed our hamlet community, we say, AND ARE WE YET ALIVE! Our Heritage yet lives and continues in the 21st century.

Understanding the principles and values of leadership, we took it upon ourselves to not only present the issue but also THE SOLUTION. Our historic steeple, the symbol of our church, was found to be in disrepair.  Remembering The Steeple Resotration Committee of 1987 and their labors in preserving our historic steeple, we thought it vain for us not to urgently pursue her restoration in this day.

Therefore, The board organized and recruited experts to come in and examine the state of our steeple, so that we might know and understand the depth of the disrepair and adequately make necessary provisions to resolve this issue. To God be the Glory, the work is COMPLETE.

We are proud to inform you, the community, that the work is done, and there is no debt or receipt for the church. Your Trustee Board has taken care of all of the expenses from within the ranks. God is GOOD!

Thus, we thank our Senior Pastor The Reverend Alonzo O. Redic III for nominating us and the congregation for electing us to serve, and we vow to continue to reaffirm our sincere dedication for protecting and preserving the heritage birthed in 1877 on Hibben Street.

In the Spirit of Friendship Fellowship & Faith,

The Elected 2024-2025 Trustee Board
