Verdelle German was born on March 25, 1934.  She is one of 6 children born to the late Evelina and Alfred Richardson, Sr.  She is the wife of the late Marion German, and the proud mother of five daughters; one of whom recently preceded her in death.

She grew up in the Old Village of Mount Pleasant, and is a graduate of the class of 1952 of Laing High School. After marrying her high school sweetheart, she was fortunate to travel to various places (with the US and abroad) with her husband during his military career.  In 1965, she returned home to raise her children.

She was a talented homemaker for many years, and in her spare time, she provided rides to members within the community. Today, the service she provided is now known as an Uber driver (LOL).  She later was employed with the Charleston County School District as a Study Hall Proctor and a Teacher’s Assistant.  She retired in 1996 from Wando High School.

She has been a member of Friendship A.M.E. Church for over 65 years.  During her membership, she served on Stewardess Board #2 for several years under the guidance of Sis. Dorothy M. Eddings.  She is now serving in the capacity as an Emeritus.  For many years, Verdelle enjoyed being an active member of the May Calendar Club. She is a member of Class #18, initially lead by Bro. Tillman M. Brown.  Sis. LaNelle P. Johnson currently serves as her class leader.

These days, Verdelle spends most of her time with family and enjoys tending to her beautiful plants and watching television. She recently celebrated her 90th birthday and accredits her long life to God’s grace and uncommon favor.
